11 albums since my last post. I meant to post after 10 but I listened to another one before I had chance to post this.

Here's a list of the 11 albums I've added to my list since the last update.
Joe Venuti – Complete Jazz Series 1930-1933
Jazz at the Philharmonic – The Best Of The 1940s Concerts
Louis Armstrong – California Concerts
Serge Chaloff – Blue Serge
Oscar Peterson – Night Train
The Don Ellis Orchestra – Electric Bath
Fred Van Hove – The Complete Vogel Recordings
Milt Jackson – At The Kosei Nenkin
George Russell – Live In An American Time Spiral
Frank Morgan – Reflections
I really enjoyed the Jazz at the philharmonic album, it seems like a good representation of the music at that time, I believe it's a kind of summary album of a whole 10 (i think) piece box set of the concerts. It's made me interested in listening to a bit more, although probably not 10 discs worth in one go.
I also enjoyed Reflections by Frank Morgan because it included a few songs that I already liked and some of the ballads are played brilliantly. I also enjoyed listening to the drumming of Al Foster, particularly in the solo in the last song of the album, which was musical and tasteful without being a barrage of notes as some drum solos can tend to be. *EDIT* I found out since writing this that Frank Morgan had released 2 albums called Reflections and I had been listening to the wrong one.
The California Concerts was interesting to listen to, with some great versions of classic songs. It's actually a collection of the best bits from a whole series of concerts, meaning I listened to 4 hours and 16 minutes of it, including a few repeats where they decided to include more than one version of the same song from different nights. This feeling is also similar with the Fred Van Hove album, which was 2 hours and 18 minutes of avant-garde improvised piano. However, both of these albums are comprehensive collections of music intended for fans to see the artist in more detail, and perhaps not intended to be a first time listen from front to back by a person such as me.
I really enjoyed Electric Bath too, which was surprising as I don't usually enjoy large ensemble albums that aren't the usual big band swing. I thought the compositions were great and easily followable, whilst still being strange and unique, a very difficult balance to achieve.
Also, I'd like to give an honourable mention to the Milt Jackson album because the whole band sound great and I like hearing Vibraphones in a jazz setting.
Anyway, here's the whole list, updated with the 11 new listens.
